Every year, the stories of the Seven Small Jewels are inspiring. These lean and mean firms defy the odds and slay the Goliaths of the profession with fewer resources, fewer clients, fewer consultants and far fewer dollars on their balance sheets. But this year, they are even more impressive. In a year that chewed up and spit out some of the best the profession has to offer, these seven David's managed to not only survive, but thrive. All of our winners added staff and upped their revenue in 2009. How many firms can say that? Some significantly grew their business last year, assuming of course, you consider 100% growth significant. We sure do. One plans to grow revenue more than 200% this year . How are they doing it? Well, by launching new practices, hiring amazing talent, retaining their best, tapping social networks and holding firm on fees, just to name a few ways. Frederick A. Miller, a three time attendee, attended TED2010 in Long Branch from February 9th – 12th. Judith H. Katz, a two time attendee, attended TEDActive in Palm Springs from February 9th – 12th.
In addition, Tara Whittle, a three time attendee of TED Annual Conference, acted as a host at this year’s TEDActive Conference. With this special designation, Tara worked closely with other TED attendees to encourage their participation and to help ensure an exciting and successful conference.
On behalf of The Kaleel Jamison Consulting Group—Frederick Miller, Corey Jamison and myself—we are saddened to hear of Dr. Delorese Ambrose's death. We first met her in the 1980s when she worked at Alcoa and we worked with her. Later, when she went out on her own she did some work with and for us. She was always an incredible spirit of light. Her energy, passion and commitment to people and change lit up the world. She will be missed.
