Pacific NW ODN Hybrid Presentation - Unfrozen Organizations: An Opportunity for Transformation

  • Smart Buildings Center 1200 12th Avenue South, Suite 110 Seattle, WA, 98144 United States (map)

Our first hybrid event: join us in-person or on Zoom! (In-person attendees must be vaccinated and wear a mask)

Join us to continue our discussion from the Monday, 18 October 2021 PNODN session and to dialogue about what opportunities are ahead of us as OD practitioners and academics. We are living in unprecedented times, our organizations and society are unfrozen, and the opportunity for significant change on the individual, pair, group, and systems levels has never been more present.  This is moment for OD! So the BIG Questions are:  What is our role? Will we step up? What is our Practice Theory as OD practitioners in working with systems that are unfrozen?

Fred Miller and Judith Katz will facilitate a discussion of the above building on an OD Gathering Process where 300 people thought together: "What world do we want to create together? What is the future of OD in that world?" From the OD Gathering, there emerged statements about creating common ground related to: the Vision, Essence, Values of OD and other areas.

At this session we will discuss this unique moment in time and the action opportunity rooted in our shared and our unique purpose as OD practitioners.

In this session we will:

  • Consider or reconsider to what degree your organization(s) are using this moment for change and to have breakthroughs in their culture and how they work.

  • Discuss the competencies of the OD field that lend to and support organizations in this moment of great change and transformation.

  • How has the unfreezing impacted your approach to your clients or organization?

  • Identify which of the proposed OD competencies you are proficient in. Which areas can be further developed? And what are you willing to do to enhance the field?
